About the Role
Our client is a leading, fast-growing healthy CPG brand in the natural wellness space, on a mission to make natural wellness simple, accessible, and affordable for everyone. As the company grows, it is looking for a Chief Product Officer to own what it sells, why it sells it, and what it stops selling.
This leader will turn the product portfolio into a disciplined, science-backed innovation engine that wins new customers, protects margins, and earns the trust customers place in every product. You will help shape a category that is moving from niche to mainstream: defining the multi-year roadmap, building a repeatable stage-gate process, raising the bar on sourcing, testing, and claims, and deciding which products deserve a place in the lineup, with the authority to retire the ones that don’t.
Who You Are
- Commercially minded. You treat every SKU as a business decision, not just a formulation challenge.
- Scientifically rigorous. You can evaluate evidence, challenge weak claims, and hold a technical conversation with formulators and labs.
- Customer-oriented. You turn reviews, subscriber feedback, and market data into real product decisions.
- Decisive. You are comfortable killing products and projects when the data says so, including popular ones.
- A cross-functional leader. You align Marketing, Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, and Regulatory around one product direction, even when they don’t report to you.
Key Responsibilities
Product Vision & Portfolio Strategy
- Define and own the long-term product vision and a multi-year roadmap across the core portfolio and adjacent wellness categories
- Decide which categories and formats to compete in, and which adjacent opportunities to decline
- Own product-level margin: COGS, format economics, pricing inputs, and the trade-off between velocity and profitability
- Regularly review SKU performance and lead rationalization decisions, including discontinuations
Innovation & Product Development
- Build and run a structured, repeatable innovation process, from insight and concept through formulation, testing, launch, and lifecycle management
- Maintain an 18–36 month innovation pipeline with clear gates, owners, and kill criteria
- Lead reformulations, line extensions, new formats, and flavor development
- Partner with co-manufacturers and suppliers on feasibility, scale-up, and cost optimization
Quality, Sourcing & Compliance
- Set sourcing standards for key ingredients, including origin, harvesting method, and supplier qualification
- Own third-party testing standards for purity, heavy metals, and microbiological safety
- Ensure products meet FDA dietary supplement requirements, cGMP standards, and labeling rules
- Partner with Legal and Regulatory on claims substantiation, so every benefit the brand communicates is backed by evidence
Consumer Insights
- Build a system for turning customer reviews, subscription behavior, support tickets, and market data into product decisions
- Track competitive activity and emerging ingredient and wellness trends
- Validate concepts with real customers before committing to full development
Commercialization & Cross-Functional Leadership
- Partner with Marketing, Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance to bring products to market on time and on budget
- Equip Marketing and Sales with clear product narratives, claims rationale, and scientific grounding for every launch
- Serve as a strategic partner to the CEO and leadership team on category expansion and innovation pacing
Team & Leadership
- Build, lead, and mentor the product, R&D, and quality functions as the company scales
- Establish clear operating rhythms, decision frameworks, and accountability across product work
- Represent the company with manufacturers, labs, scientific advisors, and industry partners
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in product development, innovation, or R&D within dietary supplements, functional foods, or natural wellness
- A track record of building and executing product roadmaps that drove measurable revenue and margin growth
- Hands-on experience across the full physical product lifecycle: formulation, testing, manufacturing, scale-up, and launch
- Strong knowledge of FDA supplement regulations, cGMP, labeling, and claims substantiation
- Experience working with co-manufacturers and ingredient suppliers
- P&L or SKU-level margin ownership, not just pipeline ownership
- Experience discontinuing products and managing the business and stakeholder impact
- Experience in DTC or eCommerce-led brands

- Sports reimbursement to support physical and mental health
- Coaching and career consultations
- WHOOP membership to track health, sleep, and recovery
- Coworking membership if you prefer a hybrid work setup
