About the Company
Our client is a well-established, publicly traded CPG company with a portfolio of recognizable branded consumer products (name withheld for confidentiality). The business is looking to bring on a Director of eCommerce, Amazon / Marketplaces to lead growth and sales performance across all digital commerce channels for one of its business units, driving expansion with existing customers through detailed analysis, aggressive launch strategies, and effective demand generation.
Role Overview
The Director of eCommerce, Amazon / Marketplaces will lead the short- and long-term vision for the company's digital commerce business, owning full customer P&Ls, business performance, and KPIs while flexing strategy to achieve sales growth. This is a hands-on, highly visible role reporting to a senior digital commerce leader: the ideal candidate is an eCommerce expert with e-retail experience on both the brand and buying side, is highly analytical, and loves thinking big while staying one step ahead of trends and tools.
Areas of Responsibility
- Own full customer P&Ls, business performance, and KPIs across existing marketplace and retailer.com accounts, flexing strategy to achieve sales growth.
- Develop and implement the digital commerce strategy to drive revenue growth across Amazon (Vendor & Seller Central) and other digital channels.
- Ensure brands are represented with excellence on every digital shelf by optimizing product pages, leveraging merchandising tools, and implementing best-in-class digital content and AI enhancements.
- Identify and unlock online merchandising opportunities to enhance visibility and conversion on each retail platform, backed by robust competitive intelligence.
- Partner with marketing to leverage customer insights and optimize digital commerce strategy based on data learnings.
- Own assortment management, determining which customers and channels are the right fit while maximizing profit.
- Forecast sales and partner with S&OP to manage inventory and ensure alignment with demand.
- Develop and manage investment strategies to maximize returns, oversee budgets, and allocate resources across channels based on performance metrics.
- Own promotional planning, launch, and post-event analysis of performance, spend, and ROI.
- Own iMAP and standard pricing for select channels, meeting margin requirements while maintaining a fair consumer price.
- Report eCommerce financials and provide insights and learnings to the leadership team monthly.
- Build and lead a best-in-class, digital-first team; optimize processes and drive new ways of working.
What You Bring
- Minimum 10 years in eCommerce, ideally supporting consumer goods brands.
- Proven track record of identifying new opportunities or process improvements to drive revenue.
- Experience owning a P&L across various commerce models.
- Experience launching and supporting Amazon Vendor and Seller Central.
- Highly analytical, with expertise in account-level eCommerce management and reporting tools.
- Deep understanding of the eCommerce space, overall trends, and technology, with the ability to independently learn new tools.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and build strong relationships to achieve objectives.
- Strong leadership skills with a passion for mentoring and developing a high-performing team.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced environment in a highly visible role.
- Bachelor's degree required.
- 5+ years' experience with Shopify or similar tools a plus.
This role requires being on-site in Southern New Jersey five days per week.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary of $180K–$200K per year, plus bonus, depending on experience.
- Based in Southern New Jersey (on-site, 5 days/week).
