About the Role
Our client, a global consumer electronics brand that builds premium connected products, is seeking a Head of Global Marketplaces to own and grow its marketplace business worldwide, with Amazon as the immediate priority.
Customers buy the brand’s products through marketplaces in several countries, and this business will become even more important as the company expands. Amazon is the largest immediate opportunity, but this is not an Amazon-only role. You will own performance across Amazon, Flipkart, noon, and other marketplaces, and decide the right operating model for each market.
The company is looking for someone who can set direction and stay close to the details. You should be comfortable reviewing a P&L, diagnosing an advertising account, resolving listing issues, and making decisions with incomplete information.
Why This Role Exists
The company’s internal tools already flag many of the issues affecting sales, margin, advertising, and catalog health. This role exists to turn that information into action. You will work with the product and engineering teams to improve internal tools when that creates an advantage, and use external tools when they are faster or better. The choice is practical, not ideological. Success is measured by improved marketplace performance, not by whether the solution was built or bought.
What You Will Own
- The marketplace P&L across countries and channels, including revenue, contribution margin, forecasts, and targets
- The growth plan for each market, based on demand, economics, competitive position, and operational readiness
- Amazon performance as the first priority, including Seller Central, FBA, advertising, account health, Brand Registry, and listing recovery
- The operating model for each market: direct 3P, 1P/vendor, distributor, or another local partner
- Pricing and promotions, including discounts, coupons, price consistency, and MAP enforcement where relevant
- Advertising performance, including campaign structure, budgets, bids, search terms, ACOS, and TACOS
- Catalog quality and conversion across listings, A+ content, brand stores, reviews, variation structures, and backend search terms
- The team, agencies, processes, and tools needed to run the business well without adding unnecessary complexity
What Success Looks Like in the First 90 Days
- Days 1 to 30: Validate the numbers, review the largest accounts, and identify the most important opportunities and risks
- Days 31 to 60: Fix the highest-impact issues in advertising, pricing, catalog, and account health, and establish a clear weekly operating rhythm
- Days 61 to 90: Present a 12-month plan by market, covering growth priorities, channel model, investment, team requirements, and the use of automation
Qualifications
- 5+ years of marketplace or eCommerce experience, with direct responsibility for business results in more than one country
- Ownership of a meaningful P&L, advertising budget, or growth target, with the ability to explain the decisions you made and the results
- Direct, hands-on experience in Amazon Seller Central, with a strong understanding of FBA, PPC, promotions, account health, Brand Registry, and catalog operations
- A clear understanding of the differences between 3P, 1P/vendor, distributor, and partner-led models, with experience using more than one of them
- Experience working with a premium physical product; experience in consumer electronics, consumer hardware, wellness, or accessories is useful
- The ability to read a P&L, question the underlying data, and turn analysis into a decision
- Experience using automation or AI to improve a real workflow, and the ability to explain what changed as a result
- The ability to manage a small internal team and external specialists without losing direct visibility into performance
You May Be a Strong Fit If

- You move comfortably between commercial planning and the operational details of an account
- You know how to grow marketplaces without losing control of pricing, content quality, or customer experience
- You communicate clearly, use numbers well, and follow through on decisions
This Role May Not Be a Fit If
- Your experience has been limited to one marketplace, one country, or one operating model
- You have advised marketplace teams but have not directly owned business results
- You prefer to delegate account-level work before understanding it yourself
Not Required
- A previous “Head of” title; direct ownership and evidence of results matter more than the title
- A specific degree
Interview Process
- An initial conversation about the businesses you have owned and the decisions you made
- A practical working session using a representative marketplace problem
- One example of how you used software, automation, or AI to improve a real process
- Reference checks for finalists
